p. 204 in packet and set up problems #3, 5, 7, 8, 9 on wksht for percents
You DO NOT need to find the answers to these problems. You simply need to set up the proportions. Remember to ask yourself, "What is missing? Is it the percent? The part? The whole?"
If it is the percent missing, then your variable goes above the 100 because you change the percent to a fraction.
If the part is missing, then it's the top of the opposite ratio from the percent ratio because the percent is PART of 100%, not the whole thing. The parts are both on the same level of the proportion; they're like having the same units. Part to whole, part to whole.
If it's the whole that's missing, then the variable goes on the bottom of the ratio opposite the percent ratio because the whole is 100%, or ALL of whatever you are counting. The wholes are both on the same level of the proportion because it's like they have the same units. Part to whole, part to whole.
