Periods 1, 2, 3
During the break, students are asked to complete two IXL skills at IXL.com. They are in the 6th grade section, under "Mixed Operations." The numbers are O.7 and O.8. Some of the problems will require scrap paper to work on. If the problem has like denominators and you don't need to do the work, don't bother. If you do, do it neatly and all in once place on the scrap paper, and bring it in to give to me.
Students should try to master both skills...all the way to 100%. However, I know it goes a little crazy after about 80%, so if you work on it for more than a half hour and you're still only in the 80s, that's fine. The report witll show me how many you did, what percent you reached, and how long you worked on it.
If it takes you longer than 45 minutes per section, you're in need of more practice. You may want to try it again later. It's best if you are fluent at these problems, so the less time it takes you to get to at least the 80% range, the better.
